Fort Wayne artist Nicole DeCamp, who designs fabric for Benartex, and our own Nancy DiNovo, who selects and develops patterns for sewing and quilting samples for Nicole’s collections, presented a trunk show and talk at our Annual Meeting held Oct. 28 at UAW Local 2209 Union Hall, 5820 East 900 North, Roanoke (near the GM Plant). And we had a record number - 44 - attending! It was a fun day first learning about Nicole's journey to becoming a fabric designer for Benartex - a leading maker of quality cotton quilting fabrics - and how she and Nancy came to become the dynamic team they are today - a church and a mother-in-law got them hooked up! Nancy told us how she chooses patterns for Nicole's fabrics and her sewing process. And we got to see many of her samples up close. We also took a look back at what our Neighborhood Groups have made this year, as well as projects members created from our road trips to the Wabash Expo and later to Field’s Fabrics in Kalamazoo, MI, and at our National Jelly Roll Day Sew-In. And always an annual meeting highlight is getting to see many finished projects from the 2024 Mystery Quilt Event held each year in February. (Click here to get info about the 2025 event coming up.) We held our annual election of officers and heard our President's looking ahead to 2025 message. And we want to give a special thanks to Morgan's Tap & Grill in Waynedale for our delicious lunch!
Leaves, pumpkins, candy corn—and our chapter’s Annual Meeting. It’s a rite of the season, too and it was once again a fun-filled celebration of our love of sewing. Held on Nov. 1 at the Aboite Community Room in Fort Wayne, the event began with our yearly election of officers. Congratulations and loads of thanks go to our elected officers for 2023.
Always a highlight—our neighborhood groups table displays and presentations inspired us all. Check them out below And, we had an up close view of beautiful quilts from February’s Virtual Mystery Quilt Event. Check them out below—way to go friends! Thanks to Lisa for this year’s variation on the Carpenter’s Star and to Marilyn and Lisa for preparing the hour-by-hour videos that ‘attendees’ used to build their quilts. What a great help! Many of our members, as well as our friends from the North Central Chapter participated in this annual event. Find detailed directions to make this quilt by clicking here.
